Simple Kadai Paneer


Rich in protein and calcium, Paneer is a common type of cheese used in Indian cuisines. Fresh as well as preserved paneers are available in market. You can even make it in your home by solidify heated milk with lemon juice. 

Kadai paneer is one of the popular paneer recipe, made with capsicum/ green bell pepper and onion. Recipe presented here is a dry version of Kadai paneer.

Serve: 4 People

Ingredients
  1. Paneer cut into medium sized cubes - 250 gm
  2. Onions finely chopped - 3 medium sized
  3. Tomato finely chopped - 2 medium sized
  4. Capsicum finely chopped -  1 large sized
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  6. Red chilli powder - 1 tablespoon
  7. Cinnamon stick - 1 small 
  8. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tablespoon
  9. Ghee/  Butter/ Vegetable oil  - 2 tablespoon
  10. Dried red chilli - 1 
  11. Coriander leaves to garnish
  12. Water - 1 tablespoon
  13. Salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Grind dried red chilli in mortar and pestle with 1 tablespoon of water into a fine paste and keep it aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee/  butter/ vegetable oil in a pan. Add paneer cubes into it and fry till it gets a golden brown color. Transfer paneer cubes to a plate and keep it aside.
  3. In the same pan add remaining ghee/  butter/ oil, cinnamon stick and cumin  seeds. Let them sizzle and splutter. 
  4. Add onions and add little bit of salt. Saute till golden brown.
  5. Add red chilli paste, red chilli powder, chopped tomatoes and salt. Saute the mixture well. Look it for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add fried paneer cubes into the pan and flip the contents until paneer cubes get well coated with the mixture. Close the lid and allow the paneer to absorb flavor for 1 min.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve it hot with Rice/ chapatis. 
Note:


  You can avoid red chilli paste, I had added it for color and pungent flavor to the dish :).
