Indian style Pasta in red sauce


Pasta is a main food item used in Italian cuisines. Now days there are many Indian restaurants serves pasta dishes.  You can find traditional Italian pasta dishes as well as Indian version of it. There are different shapes and verities of pasta available in market.  You can choose any of it while preparing the pasta recipe posted here. I have used fusilli pasta, they are thick and cork screw shaped pasta.

I have made tomato ketchup in my very own kitchen for the pasta sauce. You can add ready made ketchup available in the market. Click here to get the recipe of homemade tomato ketchup with Indian spices.

See below ingredients and instructions to prepare Pasta in red sauce

Ingredients

  1. Pasta – 250 gms
  2. Hot and sweet tomato ketchup – 3-4 tablespoon
  3. Onion – 1 small sized
  4. Tomato – 1 small sized
  5. Red capsicum – a small piece
  6. Water to cook
  7. Parsley to garnish
  8. Mint to garnish
  9. Cheese to garnish
  10. Salt to taste

Instruction

  • Boil 2-3 cups of water and pour cleaned pasta into it. Cook it as instructed in the pasta packet. Pour the cooked pasta into a colander. Keep it aside
  • Add chopped onions into a non-stick pan. Saute till transparent.
  • Further add tomatoes. Cook it till tomatoes are mushy.
  • Into it add chopped red bell pepper and salt. Stir for ½ seconds
  • Add cooked pasta into it and combine all the items in the pan well.
  • Once the pasta is well coated with veggies, add 3-4 tablespoons of tomato ketchup. Mix well on low flame.
  • Garnish with parsley, mint leaves and grated cheese.

  • Yummy, Sweet and spicy pasta is ready to be plated.


Note:
Don’t throw all the pasta water. Keep ½ cup of it and that you can add it if the pasta is dry after adding the ketchup. You can add red chilli powder and cumin powder while preparing the pasta to give an Indian touch.
