Homemade tomato ketchup

I usually prepare tomato ketchup at home with fresh tomatoes and spices. I don't use any preservatives, so I used to prepare it very less quantity and keep it in fridge for later use. It is very easy to make and taste good too 😊. You can adjust spices to vary the flavor of tomato ketchup.

Here is the recipe for homemade hot and sweet tomato ketchup.

Ingredients
  1. Tomatoes – 5 medium sized
  2. Garlic crushed – ½ tablespoon
  3. Cinnamon stick – 1
  4. Cloves – 6
  5. Cumin seed – ¼ tablespoon
  6. Onions - a small piece
  7. Chilli powder – 1 tablespoon
  8. Sugar – 1 tablespoon

Instructions
  • Chop cleaned tomatoes into small piece and deseed it. Make a pure in the blender.  Keep it aside
  • Heat pan on low flame and add cinnamon stick, crushed garlic, clove and cumin seeds to it. Saute all till the spices release its aroma.
  • Pour tomato puree into a pan and stir continually till water does not separate from the puree
  • Add chopped onions to the puree. Combine the mixture together
  • Add red chilli powder to the cooked puree

  • Into it add sugar and sauté till the sugar dissolves in the puree.
  • Turn off the heat and extract the hot sweet puree into a strainer. Tasty tomato ketchup is ready to taste.

Note

I didn’t add preservatives while preparing this ketchup, so you have to use it fast. You can keep the ketchup in fridge and use it.
