Pulissery - Kerala Style Butter Milk Curry -


 One of the Kerala popular traditional curd based recipe. Can be prepared with less ingredients and very easy to make. It is also called manja moru/ kachiya moru.


Here I have given recipe of recipe with coconut. I have added coconut to thicken the curry. See below ingredients and step by step instructions with pictures.

Ingredients
  1. Butter milk - 1 cup
  2. Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  3. Green chilli - 2 (slit lengthwise)
  4. Cumin seed - 1/4 tablespoon
  5. Red chilli powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  6. Fenugreek powder - a pinch 
  7. Turmuric powder - 1/2 tablespoon 
  8. Curry leaves - 1
  9. Salt to taste 
For tampering
  1. Coconut oil - 2 tablespoon
  2. Mustard seed - 1/4 tablespoon
  3. Dried red chilli - 1 
Instructions
  • Add grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies and turmeric powder into a jar and blend it to a fine paste with little bit of water.

  • Mix this paste in the butter milk. Add curry leaves to this.

  • Pour this mixture to a pan and heat it on low flame. 
  • Add fenugreek powder and red chilli powder and stir well.
  • Once the curry is hot, take it out of the flame.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustered seeds. When it starts spluttering add dried red chilli. Finally, add this to the butter milk curry.
