Radish sabzi- Indian white radish dry curry

Radish comes under the category of root vegetables, which is a good source of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre.  This vegetable has so many health benefits. Its can even consumed raw with little bit salt sprinkled on it or with your salad. Today, I am going to share a recipe with Indian radish, which is famous for its sharp pungent flavour. I like eating raw radish with my salads but I love the dry curry made with this vegetable much more.
For this recipe I have used both root and leaf. Radish leafs provides many vitamins and minerals essential for our body.
See below ingredients list and instructions step by step with pictures

Ingredients
  1.  Indian radish(white radish) – 4-5 with leafs
  2. Red chilli powder – ½ tablespoon
  3. Turmeric powder – ½ tablespoon
  4. Mustard seeds – ¼ tablespoon
  5.  Cumin seeds – ¼ tablespoon
  6. Garam masala – ¼ tablespoon
  7.  Grated coconut – ¾ cup
  8. Garlic – 5-6 cloves
  9.  Salt to taste
Instruction
  • Wash radish and leafs thoroughly under running water. Peal its skin with knife or peeler.
  • Cut off the thick stem of the leaves and chop it finely.
  • Chop radish into thin round shape.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds to it
  • Once the mustard seeds starts splutter, add chopped leafs and radish. Radish contains lot of water so no need to use water for cooking. Add turmeric powder and salt to it.

  • Cover the lid and allow the radish to cook until soft on medium flame. Cooking radish will mellows out its strong pungent flavor and turns it into nice and juicy with slight sweet taste.
  • Meantime crush garlic cloves and cumin seeds in a mortar and pestle. Keep it aside.

  •  Add crushed garlic and cumin mixture, red chilli powder, grated coconut and salt to the pan. Mix all the ingredients well

  •  Tasty healthy radish dry curry is ready to serve. Serve hot with chapatti or rice.
