Prawns Roast

This recipe is also called as chemmin recipe. Its a spicy dry side dish made with deep fried or cooked prawns. This yummy recipe goes well with rice, chapattis, dosa etc.

My mom used to prepare this dish occasionally for us as we like it a lot. I would like to share you with my mom's prawns roast recipe.

Serving: 1-2 people

Ingredients 

  1. Small prawns  - 250 grams
  2. Onions - 3 medium sized(sliced from root to stem)
  3. Tomato - 2 medium sized
  4. Green chilli - 2-3(cut lengthwise)
  5. Ginger & Garlic paste : 2 tablespoon
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon 
  7. Pepper powder - 1 tablespoon
  8. Red chilli - 1/2 tablespoon
  9. Mustard seed - 1/2 tablespoon
  10. Garam masala - 1/2 tablespoon(optional)
  11. Curry leaves - 5 leaves
  12. Oil - 2-3 tablespoon
  13. Water - To cook prawns
  14. Salt to taste
Instructions
  • Cook cleaned prawns with water, 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric and a small pinch of salt. Once cooked, keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seed. 
  • Add ginger & garlic paste and saute till the row aroma goes.
  • Add chopped onions to the pan and add bit salt while string. This will help to onions to cook fast.
  • Add tomatoes and green chillies.  When tomatoes are cooked well, add red chilli powder, pepper powder and garam masala powder. Mix all the ingredients well for 1 minute.
  • Add cooked prawns to this mixture and coat it well in the mixture.
  •  Add rest of oil and curry leaves to it and roast the prawns for 2-3 minutes
Tasty & yummy prawns is ready. You can enjoy with rice and chapatis.

Notes


You can add fried or fresh coconut pieces to the prawns roast for extra taste.
